Advocacy & Public Policy Lab

The FTAO serves as a Fair Trade movement hub to facilitate cross-learning and exchanges on enabling public policies, good advocacy practices, wider information and to strengthen political advocacy skills in areas of joint interest. In particular, the FTAO offers an ‘advocacy and public policy lab’ with a view to:

  • Facilitate the exchange of information on best-practice public policy environments for Fair Trade, including national policies on Fair Trade and other public policies and legislation (e.g. trade, preferential market access for sustainable products, public procurement) that can contribute to the uptake of Fair Trade.
  • Facilitate the exchange of information, best practices of advocacy at the national level, political narrative and political advocacy tools by the Fair Trade movement.

The above is achieved via a combination of workshops, webinars, toolkits as well as internal and externally-commissioned studies.

For an introduction to public policies on Fair Trade in three European and three Latin American countries, read this joint FTAO-CLAC Report.
