Building on previous advocacy efforts, this project aims to ensure that the implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) prioritises the needs of smallholder farmers. While the Directive marks a significant shift from voluntary guidelines to binding legislation, challenges remain in ensuring fair distribution of responsibilities and benefits across supply chains.

Over the two years of implementation, the Fair Trade Advocacy Office (FTAO) will work to influence the development of EU implementation guidelines, support national-level transposition efforts, and advocate for meaningful accompanying measures. By engaging with key stakeholders, including the European Commission, EU member states, and civil society allies, we seek to secure practical support for smallholder farmers, ensuring they are not disproportionately burdened by compliance costs but instead empowered to benefit from the new legislation.
