EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – FAIR TRADE ADVOCACY OFFICE
The Fair Trade Advocacy Office speaks out on behalf of the Fair Trade Movement for Fair Trade and Trade Justice, aiming to improve the livelihoods of marginalised producers and workers in the global South. It plays a key role in spearheading the global Fair Trade movement’s political and advocacy agenda. It catalyses collaboration within the international Fair Trade movement on policy, advocacy and campaigning activity; facilitates knowledge co-creation and sharing on Fair Trade policies and practices; and leads advocacy work on European Union legislation, policies and their implementation.
Our current ED is moving on after 13 outstandingly successful years and we are now looking for a new Executive Director with the experience, vision, energy and leadership to build on this solid foundation. The FTAO has an approximate annual budget of €500k coming from a variety of civil society and institutional public funding sources and the Fair Trade movement and employs 12 staff in Brussels.
This is a role for someone who is keen on strategy development and execution capable of leading a diverse team in Brussels without getting caught up in the detailed strategy delivery. You should be a thought leader in the sector, at ease in both a high level representation role in public and in a behind the scenes coalition building and strengthening role, essential to the success of our movement. As the lead motivator and overall manager of our team and our overall results, we expect you to manage our various income streams and work to broaden our appeal to current and new donors.
Remuneration and benefits
This post is offered on a permanent Belgian employment contract with salary in the range of of €85,000 – €90,000 per year plus benefits.
