Framework of cooperation between Fairtrade Deutschland and the Fair Trade Advocacy Office
Thanks to flexible support from this partnership, the FTAO can respond quickly to emerging policy opportunities that matter most to Fair Trade actors, while continuing to build long-term evidence on what fairness really means in practice. In close coordination with the Fair Trade Movement, particularly Fairtrade International, but also in collaboration with partners and allies beyond the Movement, such as academia and farmers' associations, the FTAO will work to bring the voice of small-scale producers to EU institutions, civil society, media and key stakeholders, focusing especially on policy areas that have a bigger impact on smallholders but often go underfunded.
In 2026, this includes work on the implementation and review of the EU Organic Regulation, helping ensure that new rules protect Organic Small Producer Groups, ease disproportionate certification burdens on smallholder producers in the EU and beyond and safeguard fair access to markets.
Through this partnership, the Fair Trade Movement's voice in Brussels grows stronger, helping shape EU policies that support fairer and more resilient global supply chains.
