Promoting clear implementation of Living Incomes at the EU level

Previous advocacy efforts of the FTAO and allies led to the inclusion of Living Incomes and Living Wages in the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). However, recent political developments and upcoming implementation phases risk watering down these gains or leaving them unclear for both companies and producers.
With the support of the Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chain Initiative (SASI) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the FTAO will work to make sure that Living Incomes and Living Wages commitments are not only protected but meaningfully implemented. This includes engaging EU policymakers, producing specific guidelines to clarify company obligations under the CSDDD, and amplifying the voices of smallholder farmers and their representatives in EU debates.
By connecting advocacy with expert research on the lived realities of workers and producers worldwide, this initiative aims to ensure that EU policymakers prioritise Living Incomes and Living Wages, companies receive clear and practical guidance, and the European Commission is equipped to deliver strong, timely implementation tools that contribute to fairer, more resilient global supply chains.
