Rethinking Value Chains

Rethinking Value Chains
project
Advocating for an economy based on solidarity, justice and ecological integrity.

The Rethinking Value Chains Collective (RVC) is dedicated to driving radical change towards a global economic and political system where workers, small farmers, and communities have access to the resources they need for a decent standard of living, while also preserving and regenerating natural ecosystems. Founded in 2016, the Collective brings together local and international not-for-profit actors, including the Fair Trade Advocacy Office (FTAO) and other NGOs, trade unions, small farmer networks, academic institutions, and independent research organisations, to rethink value chains based on the principles of solidarity, justice, and ecological integrity.

With expertise in sectors such as agriculture, textiles, electronics, and extractive industries, the RVC is expanding its focus to include transport, logistics, and tertiary services, aiming for a holistic vision of value chains. The Collective’s goal is two-fold: to address the root causes of economic exploitation, human rights abuses, and environmental degradation, and to develop alternative value chains that prioritise human rights and ecosystem health.
